How to install and configure Eclipse IDE for Android Development

The following video shows the procedure for installing and configuring  Eclipse/Android SDK and Java SDK for Android development.

You'll need the following software on your PC.

To view services or other options in KDE (Gui) in BackTrack 4

When you click on the "services" or "shared folder" or any other tab in the KDE (Gui) environment in BackTrack 4 on Oracle VirtualBox 4, you are asked to select the correct platform to display your request.

Select "Ubuntu/Linux" -> 7.04 (Feisty) as the supported platform .

This video shows the steps involved in accessing files on the host windows pc from the guest windows xp system loaded in Oracle VirtualBox 4.
Note; The procedure involves installing Oracle Guest Additions (these is builtin on the oracle virtualbox 4) on the guest Windows XP machine.

Install Backtrack 4 (open source peneteration testing operating system) as a virtual OS in Oracle VM VirtualBox 4 (open source virtualization application)

Here's My HowTo video:

Following are the steps to install Backtrack 4 as a virtual OS in Oracle VirtualBox-4 on Windows platform:

1) Download and install latest version of Oracle VirtualBox for windows from http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads

2) Download BackTrack 4 vmware image file from http://www.backtrack-linux.org/downloads/ .
Note: I have installed BT4 from a release image also and it works without any issues

3) Open "Oracle VM VirtualBox" by double clicking the icon on the desktop or from Start->Programs->Oracle VM VirtualBox

4) Click Next


 5) Type BackTrack 4 in the name box. Select Linux and Ubuntu as the
6) Leave Defaults and select Next
7) Leave Defaults and select Next


8) Select Next

9) Select Next
10) Select Next

11) Review Summary and select Finish
 12) Select Finish

13) This will create the BackTrack4 VM

14) Now to Configure BackTrack click "Settings" tab in the Oracle VM manager box

15) Adjust the Base Memory to an appropriate level and click OK to close the window. In the figure you can see we get a message if its set to a high value resulting in system performance issues.
16) Select BackTrack 4 and click "Start" . You'll get the First Run Wizard. Click Next
17) Select the file/folder where you downloaded the BackTrack 4 image file and click Next
18) Review Summary and click Finish
19) Select the default "Start BackTrack Frame Buffer (1024x768) and hit Enter


20) You'll see the BackTrack command line. Type "startx" to launch the Gui interface. BackTrack is now installed.

"Windows System Integrity Scan" spyware removal..

When you turn on your windows xp based pc or laptop you get one of the following pop-ups:

1. Pop-up messeage (in blue frame) as below
Security System Protection Control Panel
Possible spyware infection detected. You need to update PC-Antispyware protection to remove detected spyware from your computer. Click here for details....
THREAT NAME: TrojanDownloader.XS
To remove detected threat please click here

2. Pop-up messeage (in red frame) as below

Possible Spyware infection has been detected on your computer by "Security System"
To remove detected threat you need to update your PC-Antispyware protection.
Click here to visit PC-Antispyware web site
Update PC-Antispyware protection and remove detected threats.


3. Pop-up messeage (in blue frame) as below

Warning: Your computer may have critical errors in Windows registry and file system!
The registry and file system errors lead to computer freezes, system crashes and slowdowns, corruption of files and document.
Immediate system integrity scan and repair is strongly recommended.
To scan your computer for drrors please click the 'Next' button below


4. A yellow triangle notification icon with an exclamation mark in the system tray.
When I click on it it lead me to the bbelow site:

Removal Steps:

Most internet sites list a whole bunch of steps from editing registry entries to downloading spyware removal software. All these are not necessary. This issue can be fixed by following the following easy steps :

1) Close the pop up windows by clicking the Cancel or OK button.
2) Right click " My Computer" and go to "Manage"
3) Create a new user account .. e.g: "troubleshoot" and set a password. Give this user Administrator rights.
4) Log in to the PC using this account. You will not get the pop ups.
5) Run your antivirus software. Make sure its upto date. This will clean the spyware.
6) Login using your original account and delete the "toubleshoot' user id.

The spyware is removed...
